Hi,
I am new to this site. Does anyone have tips about Texas? A group of us are heading there this Labour Day weekend. We're going to both Arlington and Houston. Our flights are out of Houston on the Friday and Monday, and we plan on driving to Arlington on the Saturday. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Curtis

Hey Curtis! Our Chaser Guides are a good place to start. Click here for Rangers Ballpark and here for Minute Maid Park. Have a great trip!
I went there a few years ago. Arlington is a touristy town, with its Six Flags and Sports. Not much to do there. Very nice stadium. I could have sworn we went to a Babe Ruth Sports bar, which was kind of cool to eat at, but I can't find it online. It was about 5-10 mins from the stadium.
I just saw an article "Baseball's Top 10 Bars & Grills" where it lists this place that looks pretty cool.

On our Saturday night we ended up going to Fort Worth (about a $50 cab ride from Arlington), the college town with all the cool bars. That's the place to go.
I have never heard of the Babe Ruth Sports Bar. Let me know if anyone comes across it!
Thanks Julie, I appreciate the advice. Sounds like Forth Worth is the place to be.
Hey Curtis! I just made a trip to Houston/Arlington myself in May, here's what we did and we were traveling with a 3 year old, not sure if you'll have kids along or not? While in Arlington, we went to Dealey Plaza and walked around taking in the site. We didn't actually go into the musuem, but you get the jest of where JFK was shot and the major details just from walking around for free. I would've liked to see the museum but with a little kid it was better for him just to run around the grassy knolls at his own pace. We also went to Cowboy Stadium and happened into a restaurant that seemed to be the Hooters of Texas except a little more risque, my husband loved it. It was called Reckneck Heaven and if your driving to Cowboy Stadium you'll probably have to pass it along the way; I would guess it was maybe 2 miles from the stadium. If that is your type of restaurant google it, there are a few locations across Texas. It was interesting to say the least BUT the food was actually pretty good as well.
In Houston we went to the Nasa Space Center, which was pretty cool, and ate at T-Bone Tom's down at Kemah Boardwalk. Again the food was great! :) We enjoyed both games and stadiums in Texas. Our seats in Houston were about 8 rows behind the Astros and their mascot came walking up to our seats and was messing with our 3 year old. Lol, it was a great experience! Not sure if he always ventures out into those seats or not but I'd definitely sit there again, hoping he does. Enjoy your trip! Let me know if you have any other questions I may be able to help with!
Thanks Lisa. Your restaurant suggestion sounds great in Arlington since it's a group of seven thirty plus year old men...ha ha. It's going to be a busy trip but we look forward to it. Thanks again for your help.
Out of curiousity, did you ever make it to the "Reckneck Heaven" restaurant with all your friends? :)
I have friends who live near Arlington, TX and have been to a couple of Rangers games with them. When we went this past May, we parked free at this shopping area not too far away and took a $2 shuttle to the game. The only catch is that you have to spend $5 at one of the merchants -- which isn't hard to do. It's a pretty good deal unless you are planning to tailgate in the lots at the park. Let me know what you end up doing in HOU as I might venture out there the weekend after you. It would also be a handful of 34 years olds.
I can chime in with:
-The Dallas World Aquarium was terrific
-Dealey Plaza and the book depository, of course. Be warned that panhandlers there in the plaza can get a little pushy.
In Houston: NASA was a great place to visit and you cannot go wrong with BBQ pretty much anywhere in the city.
Hope this helps.
Hi Julie,
It was really hot but a lot fun. We sat in the Budweiser Patio which were great seats. We stayed at the Hyatt which was a very nice hotel.
