So the other day we started planning our California Baseball Road Trip. Here's what we got do far lined up.

1 Week in California. June 21-29
Start our journey from New York City to San Francisco on Saturday and end on the following Sunday returning to New York City from San Diego. The plan is to fly to San Francisco and drive down highway 1 first stop along the way Oakland then start to drive down the coast. Our next city will be Los Angeles spend two days then pack up again and continue and finish our drive in the beautiful sunny San Diego. Anyone ever done this or part of this with advice on cheap but good hotels in each city they would recommend. Any other words of wisdom will help too.

Thanks. Vince and Kriss

I think that another option might be to park at Old Town and ride the Metro to Petco.  I believe that parking is free at Old Town if I remember correctly.

I appreciate the advice.  Thank you.  Does Old Town mean what I think it does, shopping, eating, some fun ambiance?

That works.  Watch the drive times from Anaheim to San Diego and to the Dodgers.  Traffic is awful...Go early to SD and walk around the Gaslamp - lots of restaurants and little shops.

We are going to in to Anaheim around 2, check into the hotel, and drive to Dodger stadium.  I don't care if we have to sit by the gate for an hour or so, I don't want to be in too much traffic.  We planned on leaving around 8 or so to go to SD.  It is a 3:40 game, so maybe we could even hit Oceanside Beach??  Probably not, but....we will probably just drive straight down and do a little shopping.

I really appreciate all of your help.  Thanks again.  My granddaughter and I are truly looking forward with anticipation.

Any suggestions for Seattle?  We are staying on 1st South of the ballpark and planning on doing Pike Market Place before the ballgame.

I second the recommendation to use the BART to Oakland. It was incredibly easy when I did it, then headed right back to San Fran after the game.

For the Angels, there is some public transportation but I believe it's limited. Both times I've been there were traffic nightmares when leaving.

I loved Petco and recommend walking all over the park when there. The Park at the Park behind the outfield is a particularly nice touch. Also since it's adjacent to the Gaslamp District, you don't lack for places to eat before or drink at after the game.

I, too would recommended BART. Any train that names itself after ME is a-ok in my book

hi Vince & Kriss, Kathy

yes come on down to San Diego it is sunny and beautiful (we live here). I recommend go to Old Town for good Mexican food and fun shopping. You can also catch the trolley in Old Town and it will take you directly to Petco in about 20 minutes. Parking at Qualcomm is a good choice because the lot is so huge finding a spot is too easy. However there is nothing else around Qualcomm...restaurants etc...

Robert & Bobbie

And the Trolley is easy to take back to Qualcomm or Old Town after the game, correct?

it couldn't be easier...the trolley is about one half of a block to being inside the ballpark

How is parking at Old Town on a Friday late morning?  How much does it cost to park?

Parking should not be an issue at this time, parking will be free.

Sorry, this parking is bothering me for some reason.  Is there garage parking during the day or street parking at the Gaslamp?  When it is time to go to the game, 3:40, I would like to be able to stay in the same spot. Thanks again for your help and patience.
