All about the "L", Paul. If you fly into O'Hare, they have a station attached to the airport that will take you into the city and to both parks. I would recommend not renting a car for your time in Chicago. Walking the city is great. Work it so that you can hit the Chi parks during the same week (they cross over at times during the year) and rent a car either at the start or end of your trip to drive over to Milwaukee. There isn't a year that goes by that I don't wish I was hitting Chicago for a game, great city.

I concur with Doug. My trip to Chicago had me very thankful that I avoided driving! The subway is so cheap and easy to use that there really isn't any point for a rental car until you drive to or from Milwaukee. Most likely it will be cheaper to fly in and out of Chicago and then you can drive to Miller Park.

Driving in Chicago is easy cheese... just be prepared to sit in your car for long durations. If you do drive, and you are in town on a weekend, there is $6 parking (price is as of last year) at Devry University where you will ride a CTA bus to and from Wrigley. Is the only way to do it honestly... but has to be a weekend.

However, I agree with Doug & Craig, the "L" is the best plan of action. If you have a car and want to do the quick escape to Milwaukee, I would suggest parking at an "L" station north of town, riding the "L" in and out. That way you don't have to deal with the biggest time waster, which is Chicago Traffic.

Make sure to stop for a beer or 5 at Murphy's and the Cubbie Bear. As for food, I always suggest Geno's East and an Italian Beef from Portillo's... as I figure a Chicago Dog is standard fare, so no suggestion needed. However, if you are at the Navy Pier, there is a place called America's Dog that has city related creations. I love the Buffalo Dog, with blue cheese and hot wing sauce :)

I could go on for hours about Chicago, for good reason I dated a gal from there for years, so I have spent a ton of time in the Windy City. Chicago is my kinda town! :)

The only additional comment is don't write off Midway Airport as an option. (Airport code - MDW)

It's smaller and closer to center Chicago than O'Hare and while that is both a good thing and a bad thing,
you can get some decent deals in and out of there.

There's an "L" station attached to Midway too - I think it is the Orange line and connects to other lines at the "LOOP" downtown.

FYI, both Wrigley and US Cellular are only a few yards off the Red line (really the main "L" line) the Addison and Sox-35th stops respectively.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has pretty good sytem maps available on line that should help you get a feel for how to get around.

Take the train definitely when getting around Chicago. On the red line you'll want the Addison stop for Wrigley or the 35th/Sox stop for US Cellular.

Under no circumstances should you try to park near Wrigley Field. If you are driving park a half mile or so north and walk or park somewhere near a brown line stop and take the train to the Southport spot.

Check out Hot Doug's for the best hot dog you've ever had if you're driving. Make sure you get there by 10:10am (they open at 10:30am) or you'll be in line forever.
