The one tip I have is to have plenty of water/drinks it is usually very hot on induction weekend. It doesn't look to bad for this year mid 80s. Are you going up for just Sunday? I always found parking down near the lake. Nice walk up to musuem. I got a ticket for $10 the one year parking on Main Street. They only allow 2 hr parking. They also mark your tires to check your not over the 2hr limit. Neat piece of memorbillia from the Cooperstown Police Dept. HOF are tough to just meet on the street. There are plenty who sign autographs all weekend for a fee. Some are not bad 30 40. Some of top HOF charge 95 or more to sign. Have a baseball on hand you never know who you may see. At Gary Carter's induction I was in the plaque gallery and former President George Bush #1 walked in with his secret service by his side. He signed a baseball for me and busted me about the Cardinals jersey I had on.

I'm also heading down this weekend. I am going with cash in hand to get a whack of pictures of the living HOFers. They are expected 44 there this weekend. Considering there are just 65, that is pretty good.

The two surprises for me, was the parade on Saturday evening on Main St. My advice would be to stand on the side of the street that the museum is. A lot of players were sitting and looking to that side of the street. The other unexpected highlight was on Saturday afternoon, watching the interviews of HOFers at Doubleday Field. That was really interesting last year.

You never know what you see in the museum. Last year, I was in the gallary when Bert Blyleven's mom saw her son's plaque for the first time in front of a lot of cameras. That was cool. It is such a small town, anything can happen.

One surprise about Cooperstown is the lack of food choices on or near Main St. I did eat next to Tony Olivo last year. The town shuts down in the evening. Friday is likely the best day to get autographs as the lineups won't be as long. I'm expecting to get some pictures with them after they sign.

Steve. If you see a guy wearing a black shirt with the words "MLB Home Run Catch" on it. Stop me and say hi.

Thanks for the tips, guys! My buddy and I are headed up Saturday afternoon, so we'll look to catch the parade. I'm not big on paying for pix/autographs" but will keep my eye open for opportunities. I'll keep my eyes open for you, Michael. I'll be wearing a 2000's era pinstriped Reds jersey and Reds cap (along with 10,000 other Larkin fans!)

I caught the new Yankee Stadium for the first time today, and hitting Citi Field on Friday night. A great week of baseball is in full swing.

Steve. One last tip. You can actually set up your lawn chairs for the Sunday event on Saturday afternoon when you arrive. There is a security team there that ensures that nothing gets moved. This way you can sit closer to the fence in the general seating area. (assuming you do not have reserved seats). IFFF you do not have chairs with you, I suggest you pick up a couple. There is a general store on Main St, near the Hall. We bought some there last year. But even if you just put a blanket on the ground, that WILL reserve your spot for Sunday. Oh yeah, it was smokin' hot there last year. No shade AT ALL. We received that tip last year and were able to sit 2nd row for the Alomar / Blyleven induction day.
