Hello West Coasters!

I'm visiting Seattle with my family in August to see my Blue Jays take on the Mariners, and need some help in finding an affordable hotel. Any suggestions? Criteria: Family of three (one child, 12 years old), and not $250 a night, which is what all the downtown ones cost. Happy to stay in the suburbs and commute into the city. We are staying for a few days. Is it easier to stay north or south of Seattle to do this? Good areas to stay?

Thanks!

Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Seattle Center is where I stayed when it was a Comfort Suites. Still not cheap as its $180 night plus taxes but its in a decent location and walkable to a lot of tourist sites and a bus / cab to the game. If you are not going outside of the city, you don't really need a rental car.

Thanks Tim! I'll check it out. We have a rental car because we are starting from Vancouver, and puttering around the Pacific NW for a couple of weeks. My in-laws live out there, so the trip to Seattle is a chance to escape them for a few days!

Parking was very tight and limited in Seattle when i was there. I needed the rental car too and ended up with a Lincoln Towncar so not a great match...

Enjoy Seattle as its a great city. If you have time, I would highly recommend a boat tour out on Puget Sound going up through the Locks and the Boeing Air / Space Museum. 2 major highlights of that trip.

I concur about the Museum of Flight! We are actually going to add that to our Safeco Field Chaser Guide with the 2013 update.

Check Hotwire.com should be aible to get a 3.5 star for much less than 200. Safeco is an easy walk fro any hotel downtown. So if u stay in suburbs you'd have to consider paying for parking near the field. The are around the field is great, tonnes of restaurant and bar options. Have fun, go Mariners!

Thanks, I'll take a look. I've used Hotwire, though while travelling with kids, the challenge is you can't specifically choose your bedding options. We've ended up with a double bed and a cot, or two kings, and everything in between. I'll look in that area that you suggested. Appreciate the help.

Interesting stuff. I am making my second visit to seattle shortly and booked the Best western close to the park a while ago for about 112. I see it is now about 179 for my game vs Angels with a 2 night miniimum stay and just out of curiuosity I looked at your August dates and it was about 250. Very large fluctuations.
I also am hoping to check out the bar/restruants around safco.
