Wachona Park.... Ahhhh the memories. I grew up around the corner from there on Turner Ave. I remember the Cubs and the Mets. I was going to try to catch a game here in 2013, but the season starts late.

We went to the Delmarva Sharebirds stadium over the memorial day weekend. What a great stadium!

Don't know if this has been posted here or not, I searched, but didn't see it) but here is a link to the MiLB site that has a list of minor league stadiums by state, as well as a geographical map showing each MiLB stadium in Canada, USA, and Mexico:

Tim, I grew up in Amherst - about an hour from Pittsfield.  I only saw one Cubs game (in '88), but many Mets games in the 90's.  Not sure if you were aware, but they actually changed the dimensions a bit before last season to make a bit fairer - no more 440' to right center !

Brian, where did you grow up? I grew up in Pittsfield and moved to CT when I graduated college.

I loved the intimacy of Wahconah, including the old Sun Delays when the Pitts. Cubs were there. Maddux, Palmeiro, Grace, Jamie Moyer all on the same time or thereabouts!!!! I have unfortunately had to go under the grandstands. You wouldnt want to know what was under there...Awesome dimensions for the stadium (440 to Right Center, 380 down the lines)

Tim, I've been to Wahconah many times.  I grew up in Western Massachusetts, so had the chance to go there a lot growing up.  It's definitely one of my favorite ballparks.  Love the old wooden grandstand, which makes for a very intimate experience.  Also, the acoustics are fantastic - nowhere does the ball hitting the wood bat sound better.  It looks very doubtful that the Colonials will be back in 2012, but hopefully at least a collegiate league will take up residence there.

Tim, made my first visit there this summer for a Colonials game.  Had to been told not to expect much, but we loved it!  Once all the new ballparks have started looking the same, it's nice to spend an afternoon in an old one.  Hope the Can-Am League is able to hold onto this one.

Is there anybody on here that had been to Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, MA? Been a long time since it was the home of a Minor league team. Used to work there and miss it.

Worst time of year--end of baseball season.  Reminds me of Rogers Hornsbys quote.  Been to around 170 minor league parks, past and present.  Favorite?  The older the better.  Heading from MN to do the AFL next month.  Trying to average 25 a year so I can be done in 5 or 6 years.  Love to chat with some of you.  Happy ballpark hunting.

Nice group here. While I haven't made it out to any new minor league ballparks this year yet, since I worked in minor league ball for 6 years, I've been to a few. My count is currently at 12 (14 if you count ballparks no longer in use). My favorite would probably be Regency Furniture Stadium, home of the Southern Maryland BlueCrabs of the Atlantic League.
