I would suggest a cab at night (especially if you have the kiddos). It would be a quick and cheap as they are less than a mile away.
I can't imagine three kids! I have a 3-year old and 1-year old and am exhausted! I can relate on not getting to travel as much though. Have you looked through our Comerica Park Chaser Guide for our hotel suggestions?
