Baseball Art

My wife and I took our annual trip to the Twins home opener.  We are undecided on this summer's baseball trip, which will be our 17th park.  I just wanted to share some really cool baseball art done by the folk singer & artist Will Johnson.  Interesting pieces.

4 Ways To Be A Baseball Travel Ninja

During the last two weeks I have been planning our father and son trip to 30 Major League Baseball parks.  I enjoy about planning a trip but anticipation of the trip is always my favorite.  There is nothing like finding great bargains.  Getting something for a fraction of what other people pay is always the goal.  A common question I have been asked is:  How do you travel so…

30 ballparks in 40 days in geographical order

For anyone who lives in the Great Lakes area, heres a great stadium tour you could do later on this season. If you follow the map. it is very efficient for driving. I just checked the schedule, it works pretty good, but you would definately be on the move. I dont live in that region, but hopefully somebody makes this trip, i think it would be a great trip!

August 5  Cincinnati

           6  Cleveland

           7  Detroit

Marlins Park!

Well we finally made it to all 30 MLB with the opening of the Marlins new ballpark. First of all let me say, as everyone else has in Miami, "At least it has air conditioning!" I'm going to break up the review in several parts from family friendly parts, to not so family friendly, to areas I liked better than most and other areas of the ballpark.

My son and I were seated in the Clevelander area of the ballpark. I chose this area of the park because you can look right into bullpen of… Continue

Beauty is in the Eye of the Ticket Holder

What makes a great baseball experience for you?

We all have our reasons to rate one team or stadium above another. Whether it be ticket price; a winning team; a team with a rich history and tons of tradition; a stadium with a great atmosphere, food, promotional give-aways and in-game entertainment; great uniforms; hot players; home run hitters; or a fan base who really knows baseball.…

First ballpark trip of 2012

I'm looking forward to visiting Marlins Park in one week as the Marlins return home ro welcome my beloved Astros for the first weekend series in their ballpark on 4/13-15.

I'm excited to get back on the road to visiting ballparks after missing out last year on my annual summer baseball trip(s).  (Settling into a new job with limited vacation time was my excuse, but I hope to make up for it this summer! And besides, there wasn't a new ballpark to visit last year.)  Also…

Preview to our trip

Hello all,

This is our first blog post of the summer, and we plan on being regulars on this blog. Some background on us, we are a father-son duo that have been planning this epic baseball trip for close to 12 years. The deal was when Jon graduates from college we would visit all 30 major league parks in one season. The year has finally come! We have the entire tripped planned and have squeezed some other destinations in the itinerary as well. We will also be attending the College… Continue

chasing parks til death do me part....

Hello everyone, its been a while...I hope everyone had a great spring training and we are all geared up for opening day this week.  Im still trying to score some tickets to the yankee opener or the day after, we shall see, but I downloaded my MLB app, and I am ready to start.

As for the engagement...it's going great, the clocks ticking and it'll be here in no time.  I mentioned before that the wedding will take up most of my time and money and might not be able to attend a ballpark,…

My First Obstacle

My first obstacle

I just jumped over my first hurdle of the trip and it hasn’t even officially started yet.  I’m sure there are plenty of obstacles left for me to overcome but this one was not the way I wanted to start.  A few weeks ago I went down to Mid-Ohio and…

Tokyo Trip

Just returned from my trip to see the A's vs. M's at the Tokyo Dome.  Flew out of Newark late morning on Tuesday, arrived Tokyo after 14-hour flight the next afternoon without seeing a night.  Checked into a hotel near the Narita Airport and immediately headed for Tokyo, some 40 miles away, by train(s). Getting off the train and walking to the Dome with the excited baseball crowd felt completely familiar, except that everyone was Japanese and the sign on the ballpark read, "TOKYO…

Dennis Quaid vs Kevin Costner

So I'm sitting here kind of half-watching The Rookie.  Disney's making it's pitch for a heartwarming tear-jerker when it hits me:  I wonder how much better Field Of Dreams would have been with Dennis Quaid in it.  Don't get me wrong, I love Field Of Dreams.  It's a great movie for a lot of reasons, but think about it for a minute.  Would it have been even better with Dennis Quaid?  Watch The Rookie, fast forward it if you want, but stop at the scene when Morris gets called up.  Take that…

Tour Guide Needed

When I go to Cleveland I will be shown around by Matt Van Wormer who writes for www.didthetribewinlastnight.com. We will be eating lunch before the game a restaurant that was featured on Man Vs Food, arriving at the park a few hours before game time to check things out, and sitting in the “Social Media Suite”. It’s shaping up to be an amazing once in a lifetime experience. I will tell you all about it once I am in…

30 Games In 90 Days

While sitting at my house, I was looking at all the stuff that I had accumulated over the years.  It is amazing how we buy things just to buy them.  The stuff sits in our houses collecting dust.  While our dreams of a life we always wanted wait until one day when the kids get out of school, our nation elects a new president, or the years we retire.  But many people forget…

Possible games for me this summer... EDIT: 3/30/2012

EDIT:  Talked to the Boss this morning... I **AM** going to New Mexico and he agreed to the timing of August 20-24 for me to be working there!  So, it's OFFICIAL, I *AM* gonna make a run at all 30 this season!  Now I just need Chuck's schedule to go smoothly, or for him to have make up games where I need to pick up games as well and all will be golden!

Time to SEEALL30(.com)! :)

In addition to going out on the road with Chuck Booth next month, I have a possibility…

Grapefruit League Tour!

So I still need to update my 10 stadium summer tour from 2010, but I'm on a 5 stadium Grapefruit League tour right now. Went to Hammond Field on Monday to see the Rays and Twins, and JetBlue at Fenway South on Tuesday to see the Rays and Sox. Going to Roger Dean today to watch the Tigers and Cards. Been fun so far.

The One, The Only: Chuck Booth

When I first thought about chasing this dream I did a Google search for ball park guides.  I stumbled across www.ballparkchasers.com.  I joined the site and sent a message to Craig B. Landgren who runs the site.  I asked him for any tips that he may have that would be helpful in my journey.  He told me of a book he helped contribute to called the The Fastest Thirty Ballgames: A Ballpark Chasers World Record Story By Douglas “Chuck” Booth. …
