2013 Road Trip a Success!

The trip my brother and I had planned to get our dad to Fenway Park for the first time was a great experience. Everything went off without a hitch. Okay, we may have taken the wrong train in New York once and went into NJ when we were supposed to be heading to Connecticut after leaving Yankee Stadium, but I guess that's all part of the experience.

In summary, we saw 7 games in 8 days. 6 of those games had saves and the other a walk-off homer. No extra innings. No rain delays. All in… Continue

Giants in San Francisco

Hi All,
I'll be hitting my 23rd MLB franchise on Friday when the Giants take on the Dodgers at AT&T Park. As a New Yorker and born and raised Yankee fan, seeing these two teams playing against each other in California is a bit ironic. But I'm looking forward to a good game, my third between classic rivals (Yankees vs. Red Sox at Fenway and Cubs vs. Cardinals at Busch Stadium being the others).
Any other Chasers going to the Giants game tomorrow?

Recent Trips

Miller Park in Milwaukee a few weeks ago was great - had good food too. Lousy Phillies games. Minor league parks in Appleton, Wisconsin, Spokane, Washington, Helena and Great Falls, Montana, and Boise, Idaho were all very good places to watch a game, with Helena's Kindrick Legion Field, surrounded by mountains in the distance, having the prettiest setting.

Summer Tour 2013

For the past seven years me and my son (age 17) and a couple uncles (my best friends) go to Cooperstown for the induction ceremony. This has been a fun way to teach my son about the game and it's rich history. Since there is no real inductions this year, we decided to tour the mid-west.

The Players:

3 men in their mid 40's

2 teenage boys

The plan:

Drive roughly 2,400 miles in 5 days and see three games and tour one stadium (Arrowhead). We will visit Kansas…

Cataloging your chase

Hey Chasers,

One of the questions that hasn't been asked too often is, "How do you catalog your trip(s)" Most of us have photos, tickets, etc. But some have a quirky side as well, "I'm not leaving this park until I get a ball."

What do you do to catalog? What would you have done differently?

Keep the Quest going.

Just found this place...

I usually send this out via e-mail to all of the people that I think might be interested in such things, but I figured this might be a more efficient way of getting the word out to those folks.

Due to a number of scheduling problems, we were finally able to get a crew of five people lined up for a trip to the East Coast. We were scheduled to see a game every single day for eight days. It made for something of a tight schedule, but we left early for Cleveland, Ohio on June…

Jackie Robinson the Player

Jackie Robinson the Player

We all know that Jackie Robinson was the man who broke the color barrier. His place in history was already set before he even stepped onto Ebbets Field. What feeds his legacy is the fact that he was a great player. He endured so much in his life, yet he still put up amazing numbers. His career stats are not often spouted because he only played ten seasons. Also he did not make his MLB debut till age 28. His numbers can hardly be compared to other players who…

Baltimore - Orioles/Tigers, 6/1/13

Went to Baltimore for the day. Taxi to and from the airport. Started in Eutaw Street where the smell of the food was great. There were cool statues of the Oriole greats inside and one of Brooks Robinson outside, too. It was a little disappointing that some of the player's plaques were on the wall behind the food tents and hard to see. Nice open concourses and even free ice to combat the hot day.…

Detroit - Tigers-Twins, Sat 5/25

Another park with my son. We got a commemorative coin for the 1968 World Championship Tiger team when we got in. We got a free Tiger/Chevy t-shirt for looking at a car. Saw the statues in the outfield. Walked around the whole park a few times. There is a merry-go-round and small ferris wheel, very family friendly. Seemed limited in food choices, though. Tiger images were everywhere, very cool.

A Twin tossed me a ball during batting practice, which made our day. This is his favorite park…

Atlanta - Braves-Twins Wed 5/22

Another park today - Turner Field with my son and oldest daughter. Cool statues outside, lower level was a little-cave like, but it opened up as you got higher. Sunny warm day, our seats were in the shade. Twins were not good.

The 2,000/1,500 club

The 2,000/1,500

There is a club, it is an exclusive club, that has only 28 members but the door to this clubhouse isn't closed. Some of members might surprise you. What might be even more surprising are the names not in this club.

If someone was to ask you to name the 28 members of the 3,000 hit club who would you say first? Babe Ruth? Ted Williams? Barry Bonds? Ken Griffry Jr.? If you said any one of those names you are dead wrong. In fact there are…

Number 30 in Texas

My friend Jim & I will be completing our 30 ballparks tonight in Texas! We will be on the field with the mascot to celebrate our big moment! Hope to see some of you there. It has taken us 15 years to get all 30. We have lots of great memories.

At Last...All 30....All 30 MLB Teams, That Is !!!!

OK, so I haven't hit up all 30 MLB Parks yet. I will, eventually. Like the economy, my travel plans have hit the wall....for now . But this past Wednesday was a little personal milestone for me. Having seen the Royals play the Angels in Anaheim this past Wedensday, 5/15/2013, I can now officially say that I have seen all 30 MLB teams in action live !!! Another one of these "so-called" baseball fans bucket list of things I can now cross off. And it only took me 31 years to do this…

First Game of the Year.

First game of the year, Rays vs Red Sox is in the book. Although a Yankees Fan, I do root for the Rays against everyone else. They are my current home team.

Poor outing by David Price. Left with Tricep Injury.

Red Sox all over Rays 9-2.
