My quest to see every MLB team is getting more difficult now that most of the remaining teams are on the other side of the country which requires long-distance travel over either an extended period of time (which isn't very realistic given work demands) or multiple trips over several years (which will be expensive). Although the idea of a road trip sounds great, I think the reality will be the multiple trip scenario.
It might be splitting hairs, but with all the construction of new…

ContinueI love the MLB Network, but there's a huge opportunity for Original Programming. I sent them a proposal for MLB Summer Break -- http://www.blockingtheplate.com/apps/blog/show/22029986-mlb-summer-break- -- What do you think? What other programming ideas do you have? If you like MLB Summer Break and are on Twitter, please tweet @MLBNetwork and @MLB directly! (I'm trying to build some momentum!)

For whom are you rooting?
Me, I find myself wanting to root for the Tigers but I think the Giants have the momentum right now.

Rarely does a person have a chance to witness their favorite team capture the World Series championship.
-The gates were jammed at Qualcomm Stadium in beautiful San Diego, California. Fans appeared really enthusiastic despite the Padres trailing in the series 0-3. Josh and Sven met Steve Garvey near the will call ticket table in front of the stadium. Garvey…

All of us who are chasing after the "final ballpark" have a stash of giveaway items or things we caught at the games. Combined my son and I have about 10 footlockers full of stuff (which I'll probably giveaway at some point). I'd like to see a list of your favorite items you've received from games and your least favorite. You can even add items you got at other sports stadiums as well.
Favorite Item:
A game day football my son received: Ford Field, Detroit Lions.
Least…

I am posting this on behalf of my new baseball friend, Reggie Deal, whom I met via this website. Reggie is blind and has trouble posting to this site so I am doing that for him
------------
Having taken my crazy version of the 30 ballpark, 30 day tour during the spring of 2012, I was looking forward to seeing what options would work during the 2013 season. NO I will not be traveling in 2013 to 30 ballparks, maybe just two or three as I make sure to continue my streak of a major…

Just got back from a mini honeymoon vacation in California. We took up the bay area and saw in total 3 stadiums. We got to the airport, had a rental car waiting, which we had to fly to O.Co stadium for an afternoon game. Now here is a stadium like the city of Oakland, is not the prettiest of places. It is big and empty. The stadium use to be call the Oakland Coliseum and that is what it looks like. We had great seats, right behind home plate, however, it was 12:30 on a Wednesday afternoon...…

There isn't much to say, would love to visit every park, but realistically I would just like to visit a park every time I get a chance.
I grew up initially with the cavernously grotesque Municipal Stadium in Cleveland, rooting for the inept Indians teams of the mid to late 80s. The only saving grace was, I was young enough that even though I knew they were awful, I loved baseball enough that it didn't matter. I could go to a game and then make believe in my back yard for hours about…

My wife and I just returned from our 2012 baseball road trip in time to go back to work. This time I can honestly say that we enjoyed Wrigley Field the best. Of the parks we visited for the first time (Atlanta, Houston, Texas, Denver and Kansas City) we agreed that we enjoyed Kaufman Stadium the most.
We saw a Friday afternoon game at Wrigley on a picture perfect day. We made sure to get to the Cubby Bear early as recommended by ballpark chasers and made a stop at Murphy's Bleachers as…

It has been quite an eventful year since I signed up for Ballpark Chasers last year. I have been visiting out of town stadiums off and on since 1985 and while my count steadily climbed, I never completed all parks in MLB.
This year, on August 18, I completed that goal with a visit to Safeco Field, the last place I hadnt been. With that game, I have now visited all 30 parks in MLB and 36 in total, including those that are no more.
I had a very aggressive travel schedule this…

With a visit to Great American Ballpark this past weekend I am officially at 15 current parks and halfway to 30. I even saw my first AAA game in Columbus on Thursday night.
I guess I was a chaser even before I knew that's what it is.…

Alright baseball chaser folks I accidentally ran into something with Meg Minard's help (Thanks Meg!). While doing some research on sites in Japan I came across the Japanese Wikipedia version of the "List of Japanese Baseball Stadiums". Now before you get to the link let me explain a couple of things about translations.
In Japan there are two leagues that can be classified like major and minor in baseball leagues we frequent. In Japan the Major league or commonly known as NPB (divided…

Had a successful trip to Marlins Park yesterday and got my ballpark total up to 66, where it's likely to stay for some time until the A's build a new park or MLB schedules more games in foreign venues.
Flew out of Newark at 6AM, landed in Miami (MIA) at 9. Had some chow, killed time with a book until 10:30, then headed for the ballpark. From MIA, look for signs for the MIA Mover and Metrorail. In most cases you will take an elevator up to level three, then follow signs to the MIA…

"Turn out the lights, the party's over", the famous tune Dandy Don Meredith would croon on the old Monday Night Football broadcasts as the game wound down. For me, unfortunately the same is true, as the baseball travel season is over and I start back to work on Thursday. So for my last call of the summer, I travelled to upstate NY, on the way visiting Great American Ballpark for the second time, and making stops at Canal Park (Akron), Classic Park (Eastlake OH), Jerry Uht Park (Erie),…
