Target Field

Construction seems to be moving along nicely on Target Field, the new home of the Minnesota Twins in 2010. These photos are from 5.28.09. The "Twins" signage on the scoreboard was put up last week. Note that there is a slight change in the font on the Twins logo.

Coveleski Stadium

Visited Coveleski Regional Stadium in South Bend, Indiana last week (MiLB Park #22 for me). Opened in '88 it lacks a few things, but was one of the first with the now standard open concourses. Not spectacular, but not a bad park either. The Silver Hawks are the Diamondbacks affiliate in the Midwest League.…

Parkview Field

Visited brand new Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana last week (MiLB park #23 for me). It is absolutely spectacular. I think they thought of every last detail and it shows. The place is great!! From a pretty poor park to one of the best around! The newly renamed TinCaps are the Padres affiliate in the Midwest League…

Smokies Park

Added a new minor league ballpark to my collection last week. Stopped by Smokies Park in Kodak, Tennessee (Cubs - AA - Southern League) while on a family vacation in that area. A very nice ballpark, but nothing too unique other than the HOFer managing the home team this year.…

Robison Field - St. Louis

Robison Field was the home of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1893-1920. The site is just a few blocks from where Sportsman's Park (there four on the same site) was located at and sits just a couple miles north of downtown St. Louis. On the site today is Beaumont High School (pictured).

I was recently in Indianapolis… Continue

Huntington Avenue Grounds - Boston

(I will try to periodically update this blog with a profile of a lost ballpark site that I've been to)

Huntington Avenue Grounds in Boston is a conveniently located, easy-to-find, and notable lost ballpark site.

It was home to the Boston Red Sox from 1901-1911 and hosted the first modern World Series game in… Continue

Lost Ballparks

I have added a Lost Ballparks map that includes the sites of 44 Lost Ballparks I have visited (Braves Field in Boston pictured at left).

It doesn't look like there are that many on the map, but if you zoom in, they're all there. With many of the sites there were multiple ballparks on the same piece of property (Sportsman's Parks I-IV for… Continue

Passing Time in the Winter, Waiting for Opening Day

How to pass the dreary and cold winter days? Thinking about baseball of course, that's how!

I've been busy looking at online schedules, planning, and repeating that over and over. Trying to figure out the right baseball trip for Summer 2009!

I just discovered Ballpark Chasers yesterday, what a great concept for a ballpark site! There are so many ballpark sites that are the same. Chasers is unique!
