The Corn Crib - Normal, Illinois

Another ballpark stop for "work." Ballparks of the Midwest (Hey, I'm actually in the Midwest for this one!) stops in Normal, Illinois, home of the Frontier League's Cornbelters. Fun ballpark with some unique twists.

Corn, lots of corn. Throughout the ballpark, outside of the ballpark, corn and corn-related-stuff is everywhere. Oh, and this park claims to have…

Joe Davis Stadium - Huntsville, Alabama

Another of my ballpark visits for work, "Ballparks of the Midwest" (and other regions). Huntsville's ballpark is not in great shape and the attendance numbers are not fantastic. However, I met a great group of fans that made the trip to that ballpark very memorable. You can…

Newman Outdoor Field - Fargo, ND

North Dakota is not a huge baseball state but there is plenty of legion ball, and one pro team in the Peace Garden State. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have been pretty successful both on and off the field in their time. Fargo is also the hometown of Roger Maris (born in Minnesota, grew up in Fargo). The local mall has a great Roger Maris Museum.…

Regions Park - Birmingham, Alabama

Regions Park, home of the Birmingham Barons, isn't really that old, but, it's slated to be replaced after the 2012 season by a new ballpark in downtown Birmingham. Another stop on my ballpark tour for "work." What originally brought me down to Birmingham was to do a story on a guy from our viewing area, former 2nd round draft pick Jon Gilmore.…

Midway Stadium - St. Paul, Minnesota

Suffice it to say, I've never had a ballpark experience like Midway Stadium in St. Paul, home of the Saints. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing. There is plenty of entertainment value, but it's hard to focus on baseball when the circus is in town. If I was a regular, the shenanigans might wear me out, but for a one night experience, it was very memorable.…

Riverwalk Stadium, Montgomery, Alabama

Another of my minor league visits for "work," "Ballparks of the Midwest," or in this case, most certainly, the South. Of the 58 minor/independent ballparks I've been to at the time of this writing, this is my second favorite. I'm a huge fan of Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama. Check out my report…

Mississippi Braves

I visited Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi, home of the Southern League's Mississippi Braves back in April of 2012. A nice ballpark, although there isn't a whole lot that really separates it from a lot of the other ballparks built in the last 15 years. Still, a fun time as always at the ballpark!…

Rent One Park - Marion, Illinois

My recent visit to the home of the Southern Illinois Miners. Nice park, really friendly staff. Unique gray seats, and some cool historical photos of the area's history. My full report for my "Ballparks of the Midwest" series at work, is here.…

Mike Lansing Field - Casper, Wyoming

MMike Lansing Field in Casper, Wyoming, is my final visit for my work series, "Ballparks of the Midwest."  Certainly, it's not the Midwest, but, it wasn't too far out of the way on my way back from Utah, and I managed to catch an official game before it rained. Not a great ballpark, but I certainly had some fun with the glow in the dark hats.… Continue

Home of the Owlz - Orem, Utah

Another spectacular ballpark in Utah, Home of the Owlz in Orem. The facility itself isn't quite as nice as the ones in Ogden and Salt Lake (the team doesn't own it, a university does, the team is a tenant), but the view of the mountains is great. This is the only ballpark in the minors that does not serve alcohol. You can check out my full report…

Spring Mobile Ballpark - Salt Lake City, Utah

Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah, is absolutely one of my favorite minor league parks. A fantastic view of the nearby mountains, really, a great place to catch a game. Check out my full report… Continue

AutoZone Park - Memphis, Tennessee

AutoZone Park in Memphis is the most impressive of the 44 minor league parks I've been to. Not necessarily my favorite, but the most impressive, it feels like you're at a big league game. Nice downtown location. Check it out in my "Ballparks of the Midwest"…

Lindquist Field - Ogden Raptors

The focus of this story is not on the ballpark itself, Lindquist Field in Ogden, Utah, home of the Ogden Raptors, the Pioneer League affiliate of the Dodgers. This story focuses on two native Eastern Iowans who are spending their summer playing for the club. But, if you take a look at the video, or the photos, you can see that Lindquist Field has one of the most spectacular… Continue

Dickey-Stephens Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

My ballpark stop for "work" this week is the visit I paid to Dickey-Stephens Park, home of the AA (Texas League) Arkansas Travelers. A really nice ballpark located in North Little Rock, across the river from downtown Little Rock. Great looking stadium with an organist who plays right on the main concourse.… Continue

Riverfront Stadium - Waterloo, IA

Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo, Iowa, hasn't been a minor league ballpark since the early 1990's, but it still hosts summer collegiate league baseball. It was the first of the 40+ minor league ballparks I've been to. Check out my most recent visit there for "Ballparks of the… Continue

Principal Park - Des Moines

Another stop on my "Ballparks of the Midwest" work project. A park I've been to many times, but a good one over in Des Moines, Principal Park, home of the Iowa Cubs (AAA - Pacific Coast League - Cubs). One of the older parks of the 1990's stadium building boom. Check it out… Continue

Pringles Park - Jackson, Tennessee

Another stop on my ballpark series for work. I was down this direction to do two other ballparks, and Jackson happened to be at home, so, a bonus ballpark. The Jackson Generals (formerly the West Tennesee Diamond Jaxx) are the AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Check out Pringles Park,… Continue

Werner Park - Papillion, Nebraska

Back for a third season is my series for my employer (I'm a tv photographer), KCRG-TV9, "Ballparks of the Midwest." The last two seasons I went and visited all of the Midwest League parks (our station is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa).

Now in 2011 we're expanding the definition of "Midwest" and hitting some other parks. One that is certainly in the Midwest, is the new AAA…

Fifth Third Field - Dayton, Ohio

Ballpark stop #15 of 16 in the Midwest League for my work project, "Ballparks of the Midwest," is Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio. The Dragons are a Reds affiliate who sell out *every* game.

You can view my video, photo and text coverage of Fifth Third Field… Continue
