My buddy Jeff and I are planning a ridiculous road trip next summer to visit about 10-15 stadiums, including two AAA stadiums, in about a two week span.  Here is a list of the ballparks we plan on visiting:

1) St. Louis - Busch Stadium

2) Chicago - US Cellular Field or Wrigley Field

3) Cincinnati - Great American Ballpark

4) Detroit - Comerica Park

5) Cleveland - Progressive Field

6) Pittsburgh - PNC Park

7) Philadelphia - Citizens First Park

8) New York - Citi Field

9) Boston - Fenway Park

10) New York - Yankee Stadium

11) Baltimore - Oriole Park at Camden Yards

12) Washington, D.C. - Nationals Ballpark

13) Durham - Durham Bulls Athletic Park

14) Atlanta - Turner Field

15) Nashville - Greer Stadium

There is a small possibility we are going to have to remove Cincinnati and Pittsburgh to fit the trip in two weeks.  Cincinnati would be the first to go since it the closest to Bowling Green, KY, where we go to college, and Pittsburgh; or possibily Citi Field, Baltimore, or DC; would be second.  We are definetly going to go to Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Yankee Stadium, Boston, and Atlanta.  If anyone has any suggestions about places to stay, eat, visit, or ballpark tips, I would really appreciate it.  It is a little but away, but we are trying to get as much planning done now so we can know how much to save.

Thanks,

Dustin

Dustin, best of luck with this trip !  From my experience planning road trips, trying to squeeze in this many MLB parks will be next to impossible.  Getting all the schedules to lineup will be very difficult.  I would always usually select 2 or 3 MLB parks that I wanted to get and then work in minor league parks on the other days.  This gives you a lot more flexibility.

Sounds like a great trip!! I went to Citizen's Bank Park in Philly in 2006. I stayed at the Holiday Inn right at the complex. I think it was a 5-10 minute walk. I've included the link. Hope this helps...

Hey Dustin! This sounds like a great trip! I would agree with Craig and make sure you post some meetups in the ballparks' cities you'll be in to catch up with everyone. And I live in Raleigh-Durham, so when the time comes around next year, make sure to send me a message! I would love to help fellow chasers out! I've been to the DBAP more times that I can remember!

Great looking roadtrip! My only question is how do you have any of this organized since MLB and MILB schedules do not come out for such a long time? Or am I missing something?

Dustin, I am so jealous of your proposed trip. Sounds like a blast! When you come to St. Louis, give me a holler at jsurtin@hiltonstlouis.com. I'd love to help you make this happen. I work for Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark and we have views INTO Busch Stadium where you can watch the entire game from your room. We are an Official Hotel of the St. Louis Cardinals and we offer Cardinal ticket packages with HUGE discounts on the tickets! We can certainly help you out significantly while you're in StL! Good luck and I look forward to hearing more as the vision becomes reality!

Dustin, we have generally used Hotels.com to find hotels that are typically walking distance to the ballparks. We also get to the ballparks very early, so we can spend lots of time walking around, seeing the views and displays, watching batting practice. I have posted some notes about my home park, Nats Park, in response to a request for info. Chuck's ratings of ballparks are also quite informative. Don't miss Oriole Park at Camden Yards as OPACY is the first of the retro parks and started important wonderful trends in ballparks.
