My friend and I are on our second year of our baseball roadtrip. First year was mid-June with games in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, both New York teams, Boston, and Washington D.C. This summer we are planning 2 weekend trips; first one is in July with a Friday night game in Milwaukee and Saturday and Sunday games in Minneapolis. We have another trip in mind and that is Coors field. We are planning to leave on a friday afternoon/evening out of Chicago (our home city) and fly into Denver. Any advice on how to get to Coors Field from the airport? We are college kids (I am 19, my friend is 18) so we're trying to be conservative in a financial manner. Anyone know of any good (affordable) hotels to stay at that are within walking distance of Coors Field? Any information helps! Thanks everyone!

I went to coors field last season. That Field is BEAUTIFUL. have you ever heard of a website called airbnb.com? i used that when i went there and rented a small condo to myself for like $70-$80 a night and a rented a car, was super close to the field.
As Adam mentioned, the Sky-Ride is a good option. http://www.rtd-denver.com/skyride.shtml
My granddaughter and I are staying at the Quality Inn on W 48th. It is a good price, free breakfast, free parking, and easy commute Coors. Have fun.
Many of the teams stay at the Westin downtown. Not sure about the rates but it is walking distance to Coors Field.
If you are looking to save some money, the light rail system is very close to Coors Field, you could take that a few stops away and probably find a cheaper hotel within walking distance of the light rail. If you have time, tour the stadium, it's $5 and they do a good job.
There is a city bus service that goes from the airport to downtown for about $10.
Lots of hotels in downtown Denver are affordable and walkable. You should be able to priceline yourself something close.
Last time I was there was 2008. I took a supershuttle from the airport to a downtown hotel. I don't know if there are cheaper options, but the airport is pretty far from Downtown
