Greetings from the Infrequent Blogger! Last year, 2012, was a banner year for me in that I visited three parks I'd never been to before -- Turner Field, Petco Park and Dodger Stadium. At this rate, I should make it to all the parks by sometime in 2025.
This year, by contrast, I have only O.co (Oakland) Coliseum on the docket a a new ballpark for my list. However, I'm doing a repeat visit to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (last there in 2011), and also to AT&T Park in San Francisco, which I haven't visited since it opened in 2000. Heck, I didn't even know what a Ballpark Chaser was back then.
And on this lovely April 1, the Twins home opener is scheduled for 3:00 this afternoon with a game-time temperature of 33 degrees F. I will not be in attendance for this first game of what appears to be a rebuilding year for the Twins (well, what was last year, then? But I digress), in part because it's TOO. DAMN. COLD. Am I a fair-weather fan, then? Yah, sure, you betcha.

It's so snowy here that the Angels refuse to come to town!
Or maybe I was mistaken - it's the Mets who are in town tomorrow.
Not expecting much from Oakland Coliseum except to check it off my list of parks, but sometimes by keeping expectations low, I actually have a better time! I'm not too worried about bells and whistles; after all, my home park was, for years, the HHH Metrodome. Talk about sterile! The best thing about the Dome was that you were guaranteed a game - something that looks good with the Angels in town tomorrow and 6-8" of fresh snow on the ground here. Grr.
I liked Busch, Miller and Rangers ballparks very much - I'll be interested in hearing about your experiences. Enjoy!
O.co (it was called Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum when I last visited a few years ago) is about the baseball game. It does not have the bells and whistles other ballparks offer. It is about the game.
New MLB stadiums for me this year are the new Busch Stadium, Tropicana Field, and Miller Park. Several minor league parks are in the mix as well
I hope you're not expecting too much visiting O.co. We were out there 2 years ago and it was by far the worst park I've been to out of the 12 we've visited. But on that note, the stands were empty and we got seats 15 rows behind home plate for less than $50 each. Being a Reds fan, those seats would've cost 3 times that amount, but I too digress. The new parks I'm adding this year are Rangers Ballpark and Minute Maid Park in May. And of course a couple of short trips to Cincy to support my team. :) Enjoy the season!
