2012 MLB Schedule: Florida Marlins home opener

The Cardinals and Miami Marlins will begin the season with the opening of Florida's new ballpark on Wednesday, April 4. Anyone plan on going? Any guesses at what the ballpark will be called?

Hopefully there is more to look forward to than this...

I have plans on going in late April. Seeing one game of a 3 game series with the D-Backs. Will be my 7th Ballpark.

It would be awesome if the Ballpark Chaser fraternity could make this a new tradition of attending the opening of new parks with as much participation as possible.  I plan on making it to this game to kick of the big 180 trip.  At least with this park-we don't have to worry about the weather with the new retractable roof at the Park.  Speaking for myself, this is a great thing as many of us will be coming from far distances on opening day to witness this stadium launch.  It is great to see all of us 'chasers' bring forth the kind of passion to be recognized by the rest of the world.  I feel with this site, and the dedicated members within, we can continue to elevate the standing MLB has in the country as the best sport-with the best fans!

I'm going to the April 2nd game against the Yankees while I'm in town for Wrestlemania.

On the name.

I heard they're leaning toward calling it the: "Orange Joe Robbie Dolphin Land Shark Sun Life Overthrow Castro Bowl"

An homage to Marlins history with a shout out to Little Havana.

In the name of keeping up with " seen them all", we're off to the new Marlins Ballpark April 17, 2012.

The Cubs are in town, which Evin (a Cubs fan since the Red Sox moved out of a tie with them as perennial losers) will appreciate.

This will actually be the 6th time we've seen the Cubs on "the quest" and is more than we've seen any other team (4 on the road - Washington, Cincinnati, St. Louis, and now Miami; 2 at home - St. Louis and Pittsburgh), though that has been more by the way our road trip schedules fell then by specific design.

Only catch may be getting the ballpark finished on time but it'is looking pretty good so far.

I will be going there in June when the Red Sox play at the Marlins.  And its on my birthday so will be a fun day
