My son and I will be visiting three new parks this season. Detroit, Minnesota, and Milwaukee. I am looking for some suggestions on some things to do particularly in Milwaukee. My kids are young so looking for "family friendly" ideas. Also if anyone has parking suggestions for Detroit I would welcome those as well.

Ryan - while in Detroit you have to head over to Navin Field - the site where Tiger Stadium once stood.  After the city tore the old ballpark down they let the field waste away.  A group of volunteers have worked over the last few years to restore it to a ballfield, complete with backstop, pitcher's mound, baselines, etc.  Pick up games are played there all the time. Here is a link to their Facebook page

Hey Ryan...I see that your home park is Cleveland.  Will you be staying in Detroit?  If you are staying downtown, then your hotel is either within walking distance or an easy people mover ride away (more than likely).  There is tons of parking, and depending on the day and game, parking prices vary.  I would say most of the gameday parking lots charge about $20, especially if you are closer to the park.

While visiting Milwaukee, your son might enjoy Discovery World, it's a hands-on museum on Lake Michigan, somewhat science-based, they also have a small aquarium. There is also the Milwaukee Art Museum next door as well as the Betty Brinn Children's Museum (geared towards younger children, depending on your sons age). Depending on when you visit, Milwaukee also has a lot of festivals that are cool to check out. MKE hosts Summerfest in late June/early July which is the larges outdoor music festival. There is plenty for children to do there too. There are also a major ethnic festivals on the weekends throughout summer. Polish Fest, German Fest, Mexican Fiesta, Festa Italiana, to name a few. Awesome food/entertainment! Sprecher Brewery has a really cool tour where not only do the brew a large variety of delicious beers, but specialty sodas too. Visit Veterans Park on the lakefront for kite rentals, paddle-boat rentals and more! Milwaukee is an amazing city, you'll be sure to have a great time! A major plus to Miller Park is the retractable roof, NO rain delays!

I found parking at Comerica Park very easy when utilizing their designated lots. I did opt for the pre-pay method to "guarantee" a spot, but they have ample parking. Awesome stadium, by the way. Be sure to take your son on the ferris wheel and marry-go-round. My husband and I really got a kick out of them!

Another fun city is Minneapolis. Target field is modern and the location right downtown was very convenient to get to. I was able to park in a structure right across the street for event parking, absolutely perfect, and close the the freeway.

Enjoy your trip! You are hitting 3 cool ballparks! Happy Chasing!

Parking in Detroit for me when I first visited back in '09 was just parked in a parking garage a few blocks from the stadium. It wasn't too bad of a walk. I was there last summer but didn't have to drive. Not sure if anything has changed or if there are better options. It seemed like your typical downtown ballpark as far as parking went.

Hey Ryan I had a blog a few months back about Chicago, Minnesota, and Milwaukee.  I got some pretty great recommendations.  You may want to hop back and reread thru those. But the biggest thing I took away and mostly certainly plan on doing with my kids while in Milwaukee is the Spy Restaurant.  If we spend an extra day there (which we probably will) we'd like to also go to the Harley Davidson Museum, Discovery Center, & Tour Miller Brewery.  Hope you all have a great trip!
