Hey all. In a few minutes, I will be off to Dodger Stadium with the little bro to celebrate our birthdays as we watch our Boys in Blue do battle with the Brewers. OK, the lil' bro aint so little anymore, he just turned 24. But hey, all you big bro's out there knows how it goes.... Anyways, as all you baseball fans know summer just isn't summer without baseball. Let me take you back to my first ballgame on my 8th birthday, August 5th, 1982. The Dodgers were in a tight NL West race with the Atlanta Braves, managed by some guy name Joe Torre. My mom would take me with some guy she was dating ( She would end up marrying him 4 months later....) and it seemed that Dodger games on my birthday would be an annual thing because I just had the time of my life there ( Oh yeah, I forgot to mention some guy named Fernando was a big phenom too back then....). Three years later, with my mom expecting my brother around late July early August, she had told my dad not to order Dodger tickets for those 3 weeks and when we ordeerd our tickets prior to the season, what did we do ? Yup you guessed it.....( I ended up going to the game with my aunt and uncle....Oh, and yeah, I was successful in brainwasing the little bro' to bleed Dodger Blue) Anyways, back to my first ballgame on my 8th birthday in '82, yeah, as a kid, I had no idea the Dodgers and the Braves were in a heated pennant race, and that later in the year, Joe Morgan would introduce me to the Dodgers-Giants rivalry when he hit his game winning HR on the final game of the season to knock us out of the playoffs and give the division title to Atlanta. Just the magic of being there that night is what really won me over and has made the ballpark, especially Dodger Stadium, literally, my second home. Oh yeah, as for that game, the Dodgers would win in 10, 3-2, the 5th of 8 wins in a row over the Braves during that time, erasing an 8 game deficit in 10 days !!!! It would also be the first time I would see Garvey and Cey in a Dodger uni, the first of 2 times for Garvey and Cey would leave via free-agency after the season. ( I never saw Lopes in a Dodger uni, Sax had taken over the famed longest running infield that season en route to ROY honors in '82. )
