While it was neat to hear about other Ballpark Chasers, it was disappointing that they didn't mention Josh's thirty26, this seasons 30/30 guys, or Chuck's attempt at ballpark immortality (30/23).
I thought it was funny about the advice to do the trip when single. Note to self: it probably wouldn't be best while married unless I can get my wife to come with. :)
6. Don't plan a baseball trip in April or May. The weather is not so fun.
I too was disappointed that they didn't mention any of those guys, especially considering that 1 person they did mention thought 40 days would be a record! :) If I recall though correctly there was a deal on MSNBC asking for people to write in with their stories...
As for being single... yeah, my biggest hurdle is my wife right now. She goes back and forth on it. Getting her to 100% sign off on it will be my biggest worry. :) I told her last night that by the time I turn 40 I wanna do it, which gives me 3 seasons. By the time I turn 40, it just seems that it would get harder to do.. sleeping in cars and all. Plus, that allows for a couple new parks to be opened :)
I also agree with your #6, which is what I first thought about Travis, Joey and Pedro's attempt, ouch during those months, but they made it, thankfully... had it been 30 GAMES in 30 days, they wouldn't have though...
Ken, probably not best to refer to your wife as a hurdle. Ha-Ha. 30/30 (or less) is definitely a single man's game. That, or retired.
I'm with Craig on the caution for April/May. I will generally plan all my trips around night/day games -- I like to have a contigency plan day in case of weather. (Or in case of a broken plane, which threw my May trip's schedule off by a day.) April/May is OK for some cities, but any northeast or upper Chicago, Minn, Milwaukee, beware. One GOOD think about April/May is that crowds are smaller -- Much easier to get higher quality seats before the season gets moving. Also, if you're a check the city or sights out kind of guy, April/May are less busy.
I agree big time with the hurdles being the biggest hurdle Ken....
In regards to the game on Thursday, I'll be in Section 210 down the right field line.
I will come over prior to the game unless lunch calls.....
The forecast right now is rain on Thursday....
That always changes though...
MSNBC and many of the other sites at times don't look for info on stories like this.
But if it was a reader submission thing then I understand.
The record looking at the schedule right now is 30/19 or 30/20 starting after the all star break.
By Car and Airplanes.....
My Hurdles really are work and the wife is a teacher so technically if I took a month unpaid or 3 weeks
unpaid then that would be doable. However she doesn't like sports.
Not to fear the little one loves the hoopla and she will be a BP Chaser in the future...
